Many Mothers

Many Mothers’ mission is to ensure that every baby in New Mexico has a healthy and happy start to life by offering compassionate home visiting, family-centered community, and basic needs support. Our vision is to provide a caring community that nurtures and supports the health, well-being, and happiness of all mothers, infants, toddlers, and their families. Many Mothers’ programs are available for free to families with infants and toddlers as well as pregnant women, regardless of income or circumstance.

Our flagship home visiting program will be celebrating 35 years of service in the Northern New Mexico area. Our highly trained home visitors and staff work together to support the entire family as they navigate caring for infants and toddlers. This hands-on approach provides guidance and encourages positive familial bonding. As we continue to grow, Many Mothers has seen that tangible support for families is also important. In addition to our home visiting program, we offer:

  1. Basic Needs support by way of diapers, wipes, infant formula, and hygiene supplies
  2. Farm To Families support, which offers free, mainly organic meat and produce. We also supply supermarket/restaurant gift cards to families with nontraditional kitchen facilities (i.e. families that are in temporary hotel settings)
  3. Safe Sleep Education & Supplies Program, which includes guided training on safe sleep practices to reduce incidences of SIDS as well as free cribs for families without safe sleeping equipment for their babies
  4. Emergency Support, which includes direct bill pay assistance for things such as rent and utility bills
  5. The Many Mothers Family Center, which offers classes, activities, support groups, and drop-in, same day basic needs assistance
  6. Community Navigation Program, which offers case management services
  7. Maternal Mental Health Initiative, which conducts prenatal/postpartum mood and anxiety disorder screenings and offer counselling interventions as needed
  8. Village Closet, which offers new and gently used items such as baby and maternity/postpartum clothing, toys, baby equipment (cribs, highchairs, bathtubs, etc.) and books for children;
  9. Golden Caregivers Program, which works with Grandparents/Older Kin Raising Young Children for necessary emergency as well as ongoing resources for kinship guardianship families
  10. Teen/Young Parent Program, which connects parents up to age 24 with increased access to our programs
  11. Caregivers Helping Caregivers, which funds and coordinates peer support/caregiver-led initiatives.
